The original Bugatti had a serial 8-cylinder engine with 12.763 cc displacement (1.595 cc each!), 14 l oil and 48 l cooling water. The length of the engine was 55 inch (140 cm) and consumed 40 l gasoline on every 100 km from the 190 l tank. The maximum power of the engine was 300 LE at 3.000 rpm and with the help of the 3-speed transmission the 3.000+ kg car could reach 100 mph (160 km/h).
